Dramatic Stories

While it is difficult to peg a story into one category, these stories feature dramatic narrative and character development as the main theme. There may still be action or humour, it's just secondary. These stories are usually darker in tone than any other category. Most of the longer stories are further down the page, and poems are near the bottom.

Accept (3k) by Sievart Dinar

The dilemma between free will and the greater good is touched upon in this deceptively simple little story.

Usagi-chan Asks a Question (4k) by Adam

An experimental writing style embosses this short monologue from Haruka. An interesting twist at the end.

The Importance of Being Pluto (4k) by Jeffrey Hosmer

I am still struggling to sort this one out. If you think you know what Jeff means by it, write to him! Jeff is a prolific author, and continues his thread on other stories on his homepage, Jeff Hosmer's Rogues' Gallery.

Facets (5k) by Nikki Purvis

Every one has facets of themselves, which they never reveal to others. Nikki skillfully elicits one from each of the senshi, and puts them on display for us to see. Check out The Heart of the Flames, her web site, for more great stories.

Mako-chan's Happy Ending (56k) by Nikki Purvis

Makoto is allowed to explore her possible futures. How could she not have a happy ending? A real heart-warmer. Check out The Heart of the Flames, her web site, for more great stories.

Burn Therapy (6k) by Laura Hudson

It was an unfortunate day for all Sailor Moon fans when Laura stopped writing. This one, like Ripples, reduced me to tears. It takes great courage to explore one's self.

The One Remembered: A Sailor Moon Valentine (7k) by Robyn, Duke of Amber

A warm appreciation of the spectres that haunt Makoto. I'm still not sure if this is a happy story or a sad one...

Redemption (7k) by Clea Saal

Anybody that thinks Pluto to be heartless should read this story. Clea has a website at Books & Tales.

The Raye Trilogy by Chris Davies

None of Your Business (7k)
Five Minutes (26k)
One Moment Longer (25k)

These three stories contain some of the most beautiful and tender writing I have ever read. The stories themselves deal with that infamous triangle... His complete works can be found at Stories by Chris Davies

Best of All the Years (84k) by Chris Davies

Priss from BubbleGum Crisis is trapped in Crystal Tokyo, and careers out of control. Chris has written a sequel, which can be found on his home page Stories by Chris Davies.

Disgust (12k) by Lunari

Evil beings are created, not born. Here is one genesis of a true evil.

Dying Fire (15k) by Lunari

A great study in teenage angst, that rings true in all the little details. Lita is still trying to get over Freddy...

All Quiet on the Terran Front (14k) by Victor Naqvi

The Dark Kingdom generals were once human. Victor takes a short look at what one might have been like before Beryl's victory.

Destined Paths (16k) by Jade

Jade seems to find the depth and darkness within Usagi's soul. Here Usagi shows a remarkably articulate awareness of self.

Forever Alone (48k) by Jade

This is the grimmest Sailor Moon story I think I have posted. Not suitable for minors! Usagi's life basically falls to pieces.

Queen of Diamonds (19k) by Pandora Diane MacMillan

Prince Diamond gets his well-deserved turn in the spotlight. The tension between him and Mamoru is chillingly well written. Pandora has other stories. They can be found at Pandora's Box: Fan Fiction, Poetry & More. Read her stories, and give her your opinion - you're sure to get one back!

A Special Birthday (19k) by Amanda Rose

A sympathetic portrayal of someone I usually think of as a brat.

Secondary Characters: Noise (20k) by Jon Carp

A sad story about Hotaru, who has not always had an easy life. It probably contains my favourite depiction of Chibi-Usa. Jon has been writing a rather strange series called "Secondary Characters". While most of them follow each other in a connected chain, some (like this one)can be excerpted to stand apart. His entire series can be found at Carp's Koi Pond. While you're checking them out, drop him a line with your comments.

After the First Death (22k) by Ysabet

Being a solo superhero is not that easy, especially for a fourteen-year-old girl. A Sailor V story, set just before/during the first Sailor Moon season.

One Sick Puppy (14k) by +Gradient

A simply beautiful story about Hotaru. +Gradient now has his own website, Gradient's Page of Silly Analogies & SM Fanfics.

Aphelion (22k) by +Gradient

Cruelly ironic, this, strangely, is not all that dark. It is just a sensitive look at the baggage Makoto carries. Give Gradient some fan mail!

Overtime (22k) by +Gradient

Sailor Pluto's life has not always been easy, and sometimes things don't happen as they should...

The Weakest Link (119k) by +Gradient

The search for truth leads to conflict in the group, and the senshi struggle with an ages old problem. Gradient now has his own website, Gradient's Page of Silly Analogies & SM Fanfics. I'm sure he'd like to hear from you.

The Other Half (15k) by +Gradient

+Gradient has a way of setting you up, then sucking you in, and this marvellously subtle story is no different. This one is a lesson in life. He has his own website, Gradient's Page of Silly Analogies & SM Fanfics.

Ripples (24k) by Laura Hudson

An examination of how life can be either futile or rewarding, depending upon how you look at it.

Mothers and Daughters (24k) by David H. Olivier

Throughout the ages, the loving link that binds the house of Serenity has never faltered.

Urges (26k) by Richard Lawson

A peek into Ami's home life before the senshi. Please tell Richard what you think of it. You may wish to drop by his website, Richard Lawson's Fanfics

Sailor Moon A: Life and Death (27k) by Jackie Chiang

What would happen if the most important senshi of all died? This is really depressing, but the solution is workable. Jackie's website, The Sailor Senshi Page is one of the best I have ever seen. It is really worth a visit.

Outer Senshi Series Story 3: Never Forgotten (44k) by Jackie Chiang

Most stories about the Outer Senshi focus on Haruka. This one centres on Michiru, and a relationship gone awry. A sad and powerful story. Jackie's web page The Sailor Senshi Page is one of the best I have ever seen. It is really worth a visit. There are numerous great stories sitting here just begging to be read.

Kaa-san (27k) by Mako-chan

Rei's parental problems get played out in this sensitive drama. Check out Mako-chan's Home Page for more stories and artwork.

Moon Revenge (29k) by LeVar Bouyer

Innocence in A Minor (101k) by LeVar Bouyer

This story is as dark as they come, and not for everybody. Levar uses Mahler's autobiographical Sixth Symphony as a backdrop for an alternate rendition of Usagi's story. LeVar's works can be found on his webpage, LeVar Bouyer Sings the Home Page Blues. Drop by to check out some of his other works, or drop him a line

Innocence (32k) by Devon Smith

The other Messiah gets her day. Hotaru is shown to be a beautiful counterpoint to Usagi.

Darien:16 (71k) by Sailor Hooze

Sailor Hooze has taken us back to the formative time of Darien's teenage years, to explore what demons drive our stoic, masked hero. This is not an easy story, but an interesting one. Drop Sailor Hooze an e-mail, or better yet, visit her Tuxedo Mask Shrine.

The Death of Love (90k) by Lindsay Eagle

As the strain of Serena and Darien's separation increases, Serena struggles with self-worth and ill-health. Can the love and support of the other Sailor Scouts save her? This is Lindsay's first story, so she would love to hear from you.

Frozen Time (104k) by Ken Wolfe

Art imitates reality in this, the most thought-provoking and tightest story Ken has written. This is the second story written by Ken Wolfe. It stands on its own merits, but a reading of his first story The Four Horsemen would be beneficial. These two should be read before reading his others:
Kiss of the Enemy
Under a Cloud
Secrets
Pictures at an Exhibition
Ken now has a personal webpage, Ken Wolfe's Place.

Kiss of the Enemy (398k) by Ken Wolfe

Contains some scenes of a sexually expicit nature. Forces from Rei's past intrude on her modern life, but will the rest of the senshi believe her? This is mostly a Venus-centred fic. This story stands alone, but may be better enjoyed after having read his first two stories, The Four Horsemen and Frozen Time. The last three stories in the series are:
Under a Cloud
Secrets
Pictures at an Exhibition. Ken now has a personal webpage, Ken Wolfe's Place.

Under a Cloud (183k) by Ken Wolfe

An oncoming astronomical phenomena provides a backdrop for this story about people's reaction to approaching doom. Cults and religions get their day as people prepare for the end of the world. That is, unless the senshi can figure something out... This is the fourth story written by Ken Wolfe. It stands on its own merits, but a reading of his three previous stories The Four Horsemen, Frozen Time and Kiss of the Enemy enhance the experience. The series gets wrapped up in Secrets, and a sentimental epilogue can be found in Pictures at an Exhibition. Ken now has a personal webpage, Ken Wolfe's Place.

Secrets (1.3Mb) by Ken Wolfe

A HUGE story (over 1.3 megabytes!) that takes over the #1 spot previously held by Elizabeth Tuckwood's "Damaged". The story is slow to evolve, but riveting. This apocalyptic tale ties together Ken's four previous stories, The Four Horsemen, Frozen Time, Kiss of the Enemy and Under a Cloud. For maximum enjoyment you should read those first. The series epilogue is Pictures at an Exhibition. Ken now has a personal webpage, Ken Wolfe's Place.

Pictures at an Exhibition (80k) by Ken Wolfe

A very personal look at the inner senshi, from multiple viewpoints. This story completes Ken's epic Sailor Moon story arc. The five previous tales are:
The Four Horsemen
Frozen Time
Kiss of the Enemy
Under a Cloud
Secrets
They should be read first. Ken now has a personal webpage, Ken Wolfe's Place.

Awakening - Part 2 (156k) by Tim Nolan

A sequel to Awakening - Part 1, it takes place simultaneously with the events in that story, about six months prior to the first episode. For those only familiar with the North American dub, this is as close to canon as it gets. The other stories in the series are:
Obligations
The End of the Beginning

Lightning Crashes (160k) by John Hitchens

A dramatic viewpoint of Usagi's relative worth to the senshi, and an exposition of her great heart. Some violence and unsettling scenes make this for mature audiences.

Chasm (208k) by Renee-chan

When an unexpected tragedy occurs in Haruka's life, the Inner Senshi team up with the Outers to help Michiru win her back. Renee's webpage, Renee-chan's Hearthfire, holds her other stories in progress.

Damaged (206k) by Elizabeth Tuckwood

In Greek tragedy, a great hero would be undone by a crucial flaw. A story about redemption. I find it inspiring, others find it depressing. What about you? Please send comments to Elizabeth, she will be glad to hear from you. She has a website also, Elizabeth's Generic Home Page, which has a copy of her story.

A Tokyo Senshi in Queen Rei's Court (255k) by John Biles

When a decent person gets placed in an impossible situation, their true personality will come out. Arthurian legends mix with Sailor Moon, as Ami attempts to cope with destiny. The story is about the triumph of the human spirit, and gives Ami her turn in the spotlight. If you like it, please drop John Biles a line. Better yet, go check out a host more of his fanfics at Bailesu's Fiction Page

Pretty Good Year (513k) by Heles MacAnemy

As the millennium draws to a close, the senshi attempt to deal with something as mundane as real life. It isn't always as easy as it looks! The writing style is very experimental, and you will probably either love it or hate it. Heles would be delighted to hear from you, so e-mail her!
