Hello everyone. Well, here it is my very first fanfic. I apologize for taking some liberties with the character, but then that is what writers do. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated, send to AdFerraro@aol.com I hope you enjoy the story, I had fun writing it, but there will be no sequels (once you read the story you'll see why). My next story is titled Conwars, and the premise is simple. An anime convention and a Star Trek convention are held in the same hotel, and tempers boil over. (Similar to the entire neighborhood going to war in one of the Urusei Yatsura movies). I'm also working on a Sailor Moon mystery story where Usagi-chan is framed for murder. (why do same ol' same ol' when you can have fun). I'll post those as I write the chapters. Special thanks to the writer Stanley Ellin, whose short story "The Question" inspired me to write this. Enjoy! Adam Rating: PG Usagi-chan Asks A Question "What's that?" "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you standing there." "Yes, you could say I have something on my mind. Do you mind If I talk to you about it?" "You don't? Thanks a lot. It will do me good to get this off my chest. There's a little bench over there, let's sit down on that." "Ah, now isn't this comfortable? It's such a nice day. It almost makes me forget what happened, but I can't." "Let me ask you, when you look at me, what do you see?" "A pretty girl? Thank you, you're very kind. But that's not what I meant, and I suppose this is part of the problem." "You see, on the surface I'm just like you." "Let me explain that. I eat, sleep, drink, play. I have a girlfriend, enjoy sex, and am generally considered a good person." "I'm your next door neighbor, the girl you date, your best friend, whatever. But once in a while, I become someone else." "WAIT! Please don't go. I didn't mean to scare you. I don't turn into a monster or anything. It's just that I have a secret. One of immense importance." "No I'm not joking. Have you ever heard of the Sailor Senshi?" "That's right, the ones in the Sailor suits. My secret is that I'm the one known as Sailor Uranus." "See, I told you there was nothing to worry about." "Now where was I?" "Oh yes, being a superhero. You can't have any idea of how incredibly tough it is knowing that at any moment you may be confronted by evil and then it becomes a case of kill or be killed. But it is my job, and I'm very good at it." "In fact, I often train the other Senshi and give them tips on how to fight better. It was at one such session that my current problem started." "Have you heard of our leader, Sailor Moon?" "Yes, she's the one with the long ponytails and odango." "She's a very sweet girl really, but not much of a fighter. We were practicing and as usual she was having a hard time with it. After her seventh or eighth failure, I lost my temper and yelled at her. To be specific, I asked her, `Just how the hell she expected to be able to kill youma if she couldn't even defend herself?' That's when her eyes got all wide and quivery, and she asked me the question." "I see a bus has just pulled up. Is it the one you've been waiting for?" "It is?" "Well then, I guess this is good-bye. Thanks again for listening to me." "What's that?" "I can't hear you over the roar of the bus." "What?" "The question?" It's too late to tell him now, he's gone. But the question... Ah yes the question. The little bitch stared at me and said, "But it's easy for you because you love it, don't you?" "You love it, don't you?" As if I was some kind of an ogre. "You love it, don't you?" To question whether or not I have the same feelings she has. "You love it, don't you?" You're standing there, creature on the ground, terror flashing in its eyes, it's begging for mercy as its life is slowly squeezed out of it. Knowing that you have the godlike power of life and death in your hands, and the final end of the creature as you ignore the pitiful whimpering and crush the life out of it. "But you love it, don't you?" My God, how could anyone not love it?
