About The Collection

Come in from Google? The stories are over this way.

John Hitchens started this collection on August 29, 1997. In the words of the last live version of this site:
This page came to be while John Hitchens went through his Windows 95 recycle box, where he had roughly 100 MB of Sailor Moon files built up over two years of reading. He restored them all, then culled them. After several years of maintaining the site, he ran out of time. He was going to shut down the site at the end of 1999, but Serenity and Nephrite stepped in and volunteered to keep the page going.

Unfortunately, not long after Serenity and Nephrite transferred the site to its new home, the NBCI page they were using was shut down. They moved again, and from what I can tell, Nephrite dropped out of the project at this point. Despite promises to update and add to the collection, to my knowledge the page was static after the takeover.

I've been trying to figure out when the site went offline for good, and the best I can guess is sometime in 2006. The server is still offline as of this writing (3/7/09) and it will probably stay that way. This site had strong sentimental attachment for me, though, so like some kind of idiot, when I had the spare room on my website, I popped the beast back online.

At the present time, I have no plans to add to the site. I am not restoring the other sort options, the frames, the interviews, the links -- no. Just the alpha-sort by title. I have updated links to fics where the files were not available on the last live version of the site; if those links break, I have backups already stored on my harddrive ready to go live. If you are an author and need me to make some changes, don't hesitate to contact me; I don't bite. If you want a story delisted, I am a kind soul and will do it without fuss. I will simply move your story down the list and note you asked for it to be removed. This is intended to be a static site to archive some of the "oldies but goodies" in Sailor Moon fanfiction.

Of course, maybe one day I'll start reading fanfics again, and then. . .

About The Characters

Sailor Mercury
Sailor Mercury is the brains of the Inner Senshi. She represents the Japanese element of Water. Her VR Visor and Lunar Computer allow her to identify weaknesses in enemies, and come up with plans of attack. Her powers are mostly defensive, usually consisting of a spray of fine fog giving cover on the battlefield. When not a senshi, she is a young teenager called Mizuno Ami (Amy in the English version), which can be roughly translated as "Friend of the Waters" (Naoko used the French meaning of 'ami'). She has an IQ of 300, is a straight-A student, but socially awkward as she spends her most of her waking moments reading books.

Sailor Venus
Sailor Venus is the most experienced warrior of the Inner Senshi. She represents the Japanese element Metal and the emotion Love. Before joining their team, she operated solo as Sailor V in England. She has an advisor named Artemis, a white, talking cat. She has a powerful laser beam attack, and also a magical entangling chain. As a young teenager, her name is Minako Aino (Mina in the English translation), roughly translating to "Beautiful Child of Love". Minako is very cheerful and outgoing, a practical joker, and a bit disaster-prone.

Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask
Sailor Moon is the leader of the Inner Senshi. She represents the Japanese element of Earth. She is the reincarnated Princess of the Moon, and will become Neo-Queen Serenity of Crystal Tokyo. She is the most powerful of the senshi, with powers of healing and destruction. Unfortunately, she is also clutsy, ditzy, cowardly and a cry-baby. Her teenage name is Tsukino Usagi (Serena in the English version) which means "Rabbit of the Moon". She also has an infinite capacity of empathy, and a good heart. She has a black cat named Luna as her advisor.

Her lover is Tuxedo Mask, the reincarnated Prince Endymion of Earth, and the future King Endymion of Crystal Tokyo. In disguise, he wears a tuxedo and throws magical roses. His real name is Chiba Mamoru (Darien in the English version) which could roughly be translated to "Protector of Earth". He is five to six years older than Usagi, and very smart. He studies as much as Ami.

Sailor Mars
Sailor Mars is the spiritual pillar of the Inner Senshi. She represents the Japanese element of Fire, and wields it to awesome effect. In private life she is a teenager named Hino Rei (Raye in the English version) which translates roughly into "Spirit of Fire". A Shinto priestess, Rei has some psychic powers gained when meditating in front of her fire, and a measure of control over evil spirits. Quick-tempered and assertive (some would say bossy), she makes a steadfast friend and a bitter enemy. Her relationship to Sailor Moon is so complex it has taken 200 episodes and the work of many talented authors to explore.

Sailor Jupiter
Sailor Jupiter is the muscle of the Inner Senshi. She represents the Japanese element of Wood and the god of storms. Apt to fight first and think later, her lightning attacks are quite powerful. As a teenager, her name is Kino Makoto (Lita in the English version) which can translate literally to "Faithfulness of Wood", or by extension to "Strength of Truth". She is a first-class cook, and a fearsome martial artist.

Sailors Uranus and Neptune
Sailor Uranus is the most combative and physically strongest of all the Senshi. She represents the Wind. Her attacks include a powerful "World Shaking" attack, and in the Space Sword she wields one of the three talismans. As a teenager, she is Ten'ou Haruka (Amara in the English version), which roughly translates to "Distant Sky Ruler". She is a budding racing star, a great athlete, and brilliant academically. She has a tendency to be a bit narrow-minded and ruthless. Her soulmate is:

The elegant Sailor Neptune, mistress of the Sea. Her magical attack is as powerful as that of Sailor Uranus. She also wields the talisman called the Deep Aqua Mirror, which allows her limited precognition. As a teenager, she is Kaioh Michiru (Michelle in the English version), which roughly translates to "Mature Sea Ruler". She is a virtuoso concert violinist, brilliant painter, and a scholastic genius. She and Sailor Uranus are inseparable.

Sailors Pluto and Saturn
Besides Sailors Uranus and Neptune, there are two other members of the Outer Senshi. Sailor Pluto represents the element of Time. Older than the others, she wields immense power. Her magical attack "Dead Scream" is probably only eclipsed in power by Sailor Saturn's, and with the third talisman, the Garnet Orb, she wields the Time Key, allowing her to manipulate the past, present and future. In real life she is Meiou Setsuna (Trista in the English version), which I translate literally as "Moment Dead Ruler", but perhaps a better interpretation would be "Temporal Ruler of Pluto". Not much is known about this mysterious figure.

Sailor Saturn is the Mistress of Silence. Her attack can destroy the world. She wields the Silence Glaive, probably the most formidable weapon of all. She is just a little child. In real life she is Tomoe Hotaru (Hotaru in the English version), whose name means "Firefly Sprouting from the Earth", a shy and fragile girl with the power of healing.

Sailors Chibimoon and Chibi Chibi Moon
Sailor Chibimoon is the daughter of Neoqueen Serenity and King Endymion. She is sent to the past to train as a Sailor Senshi. Her attacks are very much like Sailor Moon's. She forges a special bond with Hotaru in S and Helios in the SuperS arc. In real life, she poses as Serena's younger sister. Her name, Chibi-Usa (Rini in the English version), means "Little Rabbit." She is advised by Diana, a talking grey cat that is Luna and Artemis' future daughter.

In the Stars season, a mysterious red-haired toddler name Chibi Chibi (literally "Little Little") arrived in the Tsukino household. Like Chibiusa, Chibi Chibi integrated herself in the household by posing as Usagi's younger sister. Chibi Chibi transforms into Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon a few times during the season but does not use any attacks of her own. The explanation of Chibi Chibi's existence varies between the anime and manga -- the anime explains that she is Sailor Galaxia's Star Seed, while the manga explain she is a disguise for Sailor Cosmos.

Sailor Starlights and Princess Kakyuu
These Senshi are refugees from the planet Kinmouku, which was destroyed by Sailor Galaxia. Kou Seiya (Sailor Star Fighter), Kou Yaten (Sailor Star Healer), and Kou Taiki (Sailor Star Maker) came to earth in search of their missing princess, Kakyuu. To complete the mission, the "Three Lights" disguise themselves as males. Mythologically, they may be connected to the "san hikari" ("three lights") the sun, moon, and stars through Shinto belief, or from the Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva -- Creator, Preserver, and Destroyer -- in Hindu belief.

Princess Kakyuu (often translated as "Princess Fireball") was the princess of Planet Kinmouku. In the anime, she was hidden by Chibi Chibi in an incense burner. Her distinctive characteristic is that she smells like sweet osmanthus flowers, a pun on the Japanese name for the plant, "kinmokusei" (the suffix "-sei" denotes "planet or "star.")
